The End of the Fairy Tale Story

As with all things in life, every story has an end. We are so sad to say that we have lost our sweet Princess Isabella, and with her passing, the story of the two dogs that overcame all odds to live a full life loved by their human families and fellow brother/sister dogs. Sleep tight sweet Bella.

So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. - John 16:22

The Saddest of Days

Our family is heartbroken. Brave King Edward has gone to his castle is the sky. He did not suffer a long or painful illness, but passed suddenly in the night. Rest in peace Edward, you were a good friend.

Summer With The Pack

Spring finally gave way to summer, and we all had the time of our lives! Bella and Edward got their first taste of long walks in the woods, or actually, dragging Sue through the woods! The siblings loved to run with no bounds in the big fields next to the park.

Both dogs have seemed to overcome their skin problems, as our long trials with various foods seem to have paid off to avoid their allergies. Edward has a voracious appetite, and has gained so much lean muscle from all the exercise and improved diet, that he has become a truly  handsome fellow. Bella has finally learned to relax here, and her bouts of anxiety are a thing of the past. Bella is the most loving of all four of our dogs, and often jumps up onto the bed to cuddle as the weather turns cold.

But wait Dave, you said FOUR dogs? Yep. Late this summer we welcomed a little sister for Willie to love. Winona (or just Nona to us) is a sweet little Scottie pup raised by one of the nicest breeders we have ever met. Nona is still in "training" and remains kenneled away from the other dogs as we have slowly introduced her to the pack as she grows. She is a little scrapper, and has already won over Willie and Bella. Edward on the other hand is weary of her, much like an elephant is weary of a mouse.

Spring Time!

Long time, no blog. Sorry about that, but things in the Kingdom have become so good, we forget to check in. Isabella and Edward are both doing fine, and have bloomed in the warm spring weather. Isabella has taken to digging herself a "den" under one of our bushes, and is quite happy to nap there in the warm sun. Edward has warmed up to the entire family so much, that he gets called "silly dog" when he buries his face under someone sitting on the couch. He looks quite comical with his head buried, and his rump in the air!

Both dogs have been doing well on the no grain diet. Duck and potato is their favorite, but they seem to be supplementing with dirt, bark and crickets. They like raw foods.
Both dogs have endless energy. They have taken to "whipping" the rope toy as if it is a big snake they hunted down, and then get into a tug of war over.

Life is good this spring!

First Snow!

The Siblings got their first taste of winter with a light snow fall. Both didn't quite know how to react. Isabella decided snow was for digging, and Edward found that eating it was his favorite. Mr.Willie was of course whelped in a snowbank, so he was happy to teach the newbies how to make the most of the cold stuff!

Happy New Year!

We haven't been updating the blog for awhile as we have been enjoying family time for the holidays. Family being our people and dogs. The siblings have fully integrated into our "pack" and it is obvious to anyone that these two are here to stay. Edward remains a worry wart, springing up an alerting at the slightest sound. He has also become a big softy by being so affectionate. He is attached to Dad's hip at all times.

Miss Isabella is one of the sweetest dogs we have lived with. She has really come into her own, and has become completely independent from Eddie. She still submits to any male, but is so affectionate that she can even win over her stoic brother.

Willie remains his lovable self. He is the ever happy, clown of the house. Both siblings have accepted him, and it is not uncommon for all three of them to be curled up on the couch together.

We are so grateful to be blessed with our dogs, and we look forward to a new year of being with them.

A Fantastic Family Holiday

Well Isabella and Edward spent their first Thanksgiving with their humble humans. The King and Princess spent the day being shooed out of Mom's kitchen while she cooked, but did manage to get a little turkey that "accidentally" fell while Dad was carving the bird.

The rest of the day was spent playing fetch with Wille acting as the runner for the rope toy. Dad throws the toy, Willie bolts for it with Bella and Eddie close behind. Then Willie has to battle his way back to Dad while Bella and Edward try to steal the toy. This goes on for hours if you will keep throwing the toy, only to be interrupted for the occasional water break and a quick stop for Edward to mark the playing field.

We ended Thanksgiving with three pooped dogs curled up on the couch snoozing while the People watched football. A great day for dogs and people!
